The International Business Lyceum is named after Guido Carli, illustrious son of Brescia, one of the most influential governors of the Bank of Italy, a highly prestigious president of Confindustria (Confederation of Italian Businesses), and hence the perfect example of the International Character of the working world.
Carli Guido. – Italian economist (Brescia 1914 – Spoleto 1993). He was a member of the managment committee of the International Monetary Fund from 1947 to 1952, and the European Payments Union from 1950 to 1958. Carli was Minister for Foreign Trade under the Zoli government (May 1957 – July 1958). General Manager (1959) and then governor of the Bank of Italy (August 1960-August 1975), Carli was also a member of the Bank for International Settlements (1960-70) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s Italian governer (1962-75). He was subsequently the President of Confindustria from 1976 until 1980, senator for the Christian Democrat party (1983) and Treasury Secretary under the seventh Andreotti government (1989-92). From 1978 until the year of death he was president of the Luiss University in Rome. His prublications include: Regulation of prices(1943);Towards multilateralism in trade and currency convertibility (1955); Evolution of the Italian legislation on the control of trade and exchange rates (1957); Why are banks unpopular? (1976); Thoughts of a former governor (1988); Economy, society, institutions (1989).

To mark the centenary of the birth of Guido Carli, the Associazione Industriale Bresciana organized a conference dedicated to the life and work of the economist from Brescia [presentation of initiative].
Students from the Lyceum also took part in the meeting in the Auditorium.
